LAGO 5.22.1 Release

Dear customers,
Cloud computing has gone from being a popular trend over the past two to three years to becoming an essential need for many companies. Defined in the simplest way, cloud computing involves providing IT resources, applications, and data centers over the Internet, with fees based on usage.

The advantages of cloud computing are clear, including a significant reduction in internal IT administration efforts, the elimination of investment costs for server hardware, and most importantly, the ability to adapt IT systems quickly to suit current business needs–these are just a few examples of the many benefits of cloud computing.

However, these new possibilities also place responsibility on software providers like Comosoft to deliver systems like LAGO in the cloud. This requires careful attention to detail, as there is an expectation that cloud-hosted systems perform on par with their on-premise counterparts, while also meeting rigorous cybersecurity standards.

To ensure that LAGO is ready for cloud computing, we have subjected it to various penetration tests over the last few months, identifying and fixing any vulnerabilities, replacing libraries, and closing software gaps. The end result is that LAGO is ready for deployment to any cloud provider.

Along with security updates, LAGO 5.22 introduces several new features and improvements. Please review the release notes and feel free to reach out to your Comosoft contact if you have any questions about specific features or functions.

Highlights

  • Security
In LAGO 5.22, a number of security vulnerabilities in the form of obsolete libraries have been closed. These have been replaced by the corresponding latest version. In addition, our automatic process when compiling versions has been further improved to detect potential security vulnerabilities directly.
  • Automatic skipping of workflow statuses
Now available, workflow statuses for individual variants of a document can be skipped automatically. An example would be a page in several language variants, for which the first correction status is to be used only for the standard variant. Further language variants should only generate an order in the second correction status. For the use of the feature two conditions must be fulfilled. First, the workflow must have the document status action “Keep document variants synchronized” set in all statuses. Furthermore, it must be defined on a document itself which statuses are to be skipped. In LAGO PIM, this can be defined in the bridge. There is a new button for this in LAGO Explorer. The statuses to be skipped are also displayed in all document lists as a comma-separated list. Please note that this function does not take effect retroactively, so that the status in which the document variant is currently located cannot be skipped.
  • Display of open jobs for document variants
It is now possible to query whether open jobs for document variants exist in the document lists of LAGO Explorer, LAGO Whiteboard, LAGO Proof and LAGO PIM using a new icon. This is useful when a workflow uses the document status action “Keep document variants in sync” to identify those document variants in which there are still open jobs without having to switch to the job list to do so.
  • Display of asset attributes in LAGO DAM
In LAGO DAM, asset attributes can now be displayed within the Bridge group “User-defined fields”. When multiple assets are selected, only the asset attributes that are common to the selection are displayed. If there is an inequality, a ‘?’ is displayed instead. The “Custom Fields” view can be configured in LAGO Admin under Permissions & Workflows, in the Workspaces section.
  • Display of “Switchouts” in LAGO Whiteboard
In the page layout and in the placement mode of LAGO Whiteboard, there is now the function “Highlight switchouts”, which can be activated via the button of the same name. The function ensures that differently populated raster fields between the variants, are highlighted in color. The color of the raster field, depending on the color of the selected department, is displayed with half opacity in the case of different placement.
